Department of Media in Imam Al-Kadhim College/ Thi Qar Departments has held a scientific symposium entitled “Media and its Role to Face Crises”.
The symposium has dealt with a number of topics the most important of which is the topic presented by the teacher Dalal Abdullah Magtuf, that discussed the political impact of Media in facing crisis which is devided into the role of traditional Media impact, TV as an example, and the impact of new media.
The researchers focused on the relation between Media and Policy in general and from different views. After that Mr. Anmar Ghafil Saihud discussed crisis terminology, how crises begin and the relation between the Media and the crises. Mr. Saihud, has also discussed the increasement of the public reliance on the Media in the times of crises due to the need to know more information about the crisis. This requires broadcasting comprehensive media coverage and ensures Media liability in facing crises before, during and after its existence.
The symposium has come out with two recommendations: the first one is to urge the Media to face crises by spreading righteous content that care about the social differences and the unity of our country. The second recommendation confirmed the necessity of creating a crisis cell in order to unite the media discourse, and not allow to promote rumors because of the various statements that distract the public.
