Department of Quranic Sciences and Hadith (opened in 2004-2005)

It awards bachelor degree in Quranic Sciences and Hadith. It is concerned with teaching all matters related to the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Hadith in terms of language, eloquence, recitation, and intonation. It aims at graduating specialised personnel to heighten and spread Quran, hadith and the legacy of the Prophet Mohammed and his household. It also makes use of the modern technologies for consolidating the Islamic values.

Department of Sharia (opened in 2004-2005)

It awardsbachelor degree in Sharia & Islamic Sciences. It is concerned with teaching jurisprudence and its principles as well as the comparative jurisprudence and the reasons of jurists’ differences. It aims at preparing specialists in Sharia who are competent to communicate the Islamic values based on love, cooperation, and tolerance so as to strengthen relations among the society members. It also provides schools with teachers and researches, who are scientifically and intellectually qualified to promote the Islamic jurisprudence that brings the originality together with modernity. It confirms the significance of clearly knowing the principles of judgements and their importance for understanding the Quranic texts and the prophetic Sunnah.

Department of Islamic Thought and Creed (opened in 2004-2005)

It awards bachelor degree in the Islamic Thought. It aims at teaching the principles and creeds of the religion, Islamic philosophy and Islamic groups & sects and comparing them with other international philosophies, religions and sects. It endeavors to prepare the specialised personnel – as per the academic criteria – capable of encountering the different intellectual challenges. Based on the Islamic thought, it tries to raise the original Islamic awareness of moderation and openness to other people.

 

Department of the Arabic Language & Literature (opened in 2009-2010)

It awards bachelor degree in the Arabic Language and Literature. It is concerned with teaching Arabic syntax, morphology, literature, eloquence, and arud (known as the Science of Poetry) as well as the Quranic sciences that are related to the Arabic language studies. It devotes efforts to provide the governmental and non-governmental institutions with researchers and specialists so as to keep the language free of errors and mistakes and to protect its prosody.

Department of History (opened in 2009-2010)

It awards bachelor degree in the Historical Studies. It teaches the Islamic history, prophetic biography, methods of the Arab and Muslim historians, and the Arabic-Islamic Chronicling Movement. It also aims at preparing personnel qualified to teach history, to contribute to studying and spreading the Islamic-Arabic legacy as per the most modern cognitive methodologies, and to develop techniques of criticism and analysis for the historical studies.

Department of Law (opened in 2009-2010)

It awards bachelor degree in law and aims at legally qualifying a generation who are able to contribute to the institutions and governmental & private companies, developing the skills of the legal culture, and increasing the efficiency of the legal & teaching staff by utilising the modern means, studying various subjects and systems of laws, coping with the technical and administrative development that the world witness in the field of education and knowledge, and shedding light on the legal principles emerged with the oldest civilizations in the history of mankind and the heavenly laws: Islamic, Christian and Jewish, in addition to the Eastern and Western modern laws.

Department of Political Sciences (opened in 2009-2010)

It awards bachelor degree in the Political Sciences. It aims at preparing staff scientifically qualified to study the different fields of political sciences (political thought, political systems, international relations, etc.). Its goal is also to prepare students to work in the future at the specialised universities, international organizations, and institutions that are concerned with media, public relations, human rights, democracy, etc. and to provide consultations and scientific suggestions to the state directorates by improving the political studies.

Department of Media & Mass Communication (opened in 2010-2011)

It awards bachelor degree in the following majors (Journalism, Radio & Television, and Public Relations). Via the department staff’s academic expertise and technical skills, the students will be qualified to work in the institutions of press, television, radio, public relations and advertisement as well as in all other fields of news gathering, news editing, designing, production, press distribution, programs presentation, enquiry conducting, and opinion polling.

Department of the English Language (opened in 2013-2014)

It awards bachelor degree in the English Language. The goal is to teach students English along with its literature and the focus is on the language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). The students are provided with the basic concepts, theories and new trends pertaining to the language. The department also qualifies the students to work as specialised employees and translators in various sectors and institutions and as teachers in schools and academies, to do the postgraduate studies and to conduct advanced researches in different spheres of English.

Department of Computer Techniques Engineering (opened in 2013-2014)

It awards bachelor degree in the Technical Software Engineering. It exerts efforts to cope with the modern scientific advances by conducting researches and studies in the field of computer and software engineering, which contribute to the development of the educational curricular and the preparation of the technical engineers, who are familiar with the machine language, details of computer operating mechanisms, types of processors, maps of operations and controllers, and who are able to open up new scientific prospects.

Department of Management & Economy (opened in 2013-2014)

It awards bachelor degrees in business management and in Banking & Finance Sciences. It offers opportunities to develop students’ skills in the banking sector and financial institutions, and to understand the financial and economic woes through the scientific concepts and applications. It promotes the spirit of the teamwork and develops the communication skills of the students. It aims at improving and elevating the academic and systematic studies in this domain to the front ranks and preparing the graduates to work and to develop their intellectual, scientific and research skills.

Department of Kindergarten and Special Education (opened in 2017-2018)

The department is divided into two academic sections: Kindergarten for girls and Special Education for both genders. The message of the dept. is to prepare highly competent graduates – specialised in these two fields – who are qualified to deal with the normal children as well as those with special needs as per various developed educational programs. The vision is to expand the horizons of the scientific, educational and psychological research and cooperate with other Iraqi, regional and international institutions and universities and to practise the classroom education in the real fields. The dept. aims at conducting courses for the methods of education, university consultation, workshops, symposiums, etc. It also supports in developing the academic research at the college in the educational and psychological fields.
